New City Church Southpark - New Worship Building - The project consists of renovations and a new addition containing a 1100 seat worship space, lobby, and office area along with restrooms and other support spaces. The new structure will consist of approximately 30,000 sf and the existing structure is approximately 33,000 sf on one level. The new construction will be slab on grade and will have a structural steel building frame with cold formed metal stud infill framing with brick and EIFS veneer. Roof construction will be membrane roofing on roof deck at low slope roofs. The interior partitions will be gypsum wallboard clad light gage metal framing. The ceilings will be a mix of 2x2 ceiling grid with areas of GWB ceiling along with areas of exposed ceiling with acoustical ceiling clouds in the worship space and lobby.The existing building being renovated is Type II-B construction based on existing drawings and will be sprinklered as part of the project. The new construction will be Construction Type II-B, Assembly A-3, Sprinklered. The new addition and the existing building will be considered one building with unlimited area as per NCSBC 507.6. Site work will include rough and fine grading to accommodate new building configuration, parking, and electric, water and gas utility installation and modification as needed. Sitework will also include demolition of two existing buildings. The construction will need to be sequenced in order to allow the church to continue to occupy the site.
